After a break of more than two years due to the pandemic, the great family of popular athletics in the Region of Murcia was able to enjoy their most anticipated night again. This was the case this Friday at the Cervantes Theater in Abarán, the scene of the VIII Gala Running Region of Murcia, where the awards corresponding to the 2020/2021 edition of the Running Challenge, Trail Tour FAMU and Ultra Trail Tour FAMU circuits were delivered.
There the ‘finishers’ were recognized in each of the leagues, as well as the first classified by categories and the first absolute, with victory for Kevin Juan Alegre and Mª Luisa Ortín in RCH, Jesús Molina and Pepa López in TTF, corresponding to the triumph in UTTF to Manu García and Esther Sánchez.
The ‘gold finishers’ were also awarded, athletes who participated in all the tests of their circuit. On this occasion, seven participants finished the entire calendar of the Running Challenge (Jesús Joaquín Barba, Iván Juan Jaureguibarria, Francisco José Solbes, Antonio Yelo, Francisco Bartolomé Pérez, Rubén Belando and Loli Cuerda), with four being the ‘gold finishers’ of the Trail FAMU Tour (Pedro Ángel Cayuelas, Eduardo Mejías, Francisca López and Pascual Pérez) and three in FAMU Ultra Trail Tour (Esther Sánchez, Juan Miguel Cervantes and José Nicolás López).
Especially emotional moments were also experienced in this regard, with two married couples on stage receiving the aforementioned distinction as ‘gold finishers’ (Rubén Belando and Loli Cuerda in the Running Challenge, Francisca López and Pascual Pérez in the FAMU Trail Tour) and, In addition, for the first time with an entire family as ‘RCH finishers’, specifically the Belando Cuerda family, adding their children Christian and Loli Belando.
One of the most long-awaited evenings that could finally take place, and that had its finishing touch with the agape for all the attendees held in the CIMA Building. All this, thanks to the invaluable disposition of the Abarán City Council, especially in the person of its mayor, Jesús Gómez, the Councilor for Sports Jesús Saorín and Adrián Carrillo, Councilor for Employment, Training, Personnel and Social Policy, without forgetting the fantastic work of AD Athletics Abarán and his human team.
