Aaron Judge, star of the New York Yankees, made history this Wednesday by connecting, in his team’s visit to the Toronto Blue Jays, his 61st home run of the season, which equaled the historical record of Roger Maris in the American League.
Judge hit the home run in the seventh inning of the duel against the Blue Jays with Tim Mayza on the mound and equaled a mark that had stood since 1961, achieved by Maris, precisely with the Yankees.
‘El Juez’, as Judge is known, had hit his 60th home run on September 20 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The star Yankees player equaled this record in his 151st game of the year, in 551 at-bats.
As a curious fact, the son of Roger Maris and the mother of Aaron Judge hugged once the historic mark was equaled.
The Yankees still have seven regular-season games left in which Judge can top Maris’s historic mark.
