The Generalitat of Catalonia has fined the nursing home with 108,000 euros Sant Pere Hospital Foundation has in Vilassar de Dalt (Barcelona) for leaving the elderly without food for 15 hours, making mistakes with their medication and giving them expired products.
The general secretary of the Catalan Department of Social Rights and Inclusion, Raul Moreno, pointed out this Friday, during the start of the collection of donations for the Food Bank, that they have acted accordingly to the inspection that has shown the deficiencies of the residence, in application of the regulations.
Moreno has clarified that the last inspection carried out at the Vilassar de Dalt residence, in February of this year, “the deficiencies had already been resolved but must face the sanctions that have been imposed“, although they will provide payment facilities to the managing entity. “We want a quality service for the elderly and in this we will be relentless,” he stressed.

The inspections have detected that expired medications were supplied, that there was a lack of collegiate direction and that the residents were without food for 15 hours, among other irregularities. The repetition of disciplinary proceedings against the residence has led the department to finally impose several fines, which add up to the aforementioned 108,000 euros.
The Vanguardwhich has advanced this case, has also reported that the center’s management company is immersed in a labor dispute, not only in the Vilassar de Dalt residence, but also in another one it runs in Canet de Mar.
The Fundació Hospital de Sant Pere is a private, non-profit organization that offers public services. It is managed through a co-patronage between the parish and the Vilassar de Dalt City Council, which appoint the direction and management of the center, and which has places arranged with the Generalitat.
