Moro murder, the “buzzer” ignored call. Cossiga and that “I have to resign”
About the murder of Aldo Moro Much has been written and said, but now a sensational background emerges. In fact, there would have been a phone call to the then Interior Minister Francesco Cossiga remained secret. The call – an investigation by the Report program reveals – dates back to 9.30am on 9 May 1978. Claudio Elegantdeputy secretary of the PSI at the time reveals that it was right in Cossiga's office when two messages came through the “buzzer“, i.e. a device that was used to send alerts to the ministry's internal system. After reading the two texts, Signorile recalls, Cossiga said he had to resign. Only at 12.30after Valerio Morucci's phone call claiming responsibility, Italy knew of the death of the secretary of the Christian Democracy.

But there are those who do not believe this reconstruction. This is the case of Luigi Zanda, Cossiga's spokesperson and political assistant at the time. “Given that I am events that occurred 46 years agoand I – says Luigi Zanda, Cossiga's spokesperson and political assistant at the time, to Repubblica – I was not present at the meeting with Signorile, I don't remember that Cossiga was informed by the police a few hours earlier compared to when it was made public. In my memory, this long interval of a few hours did not occur”. But there is more: hiding, even just for a few hours, the news of the discovery of Moro's body would have been difficult: “Also because circulated among many people. And I don't see what it could be the reason for a delay“.
