basic files
In exclusive statements to “Sky News Arabia” from Cairo, the international relations expert, Tariq Al-Bardisi, explains the most prominent goals and files on the table of the tripartite summit in its ninth round, referring to several key points; The first is the objective related to completing and following up on the implementation of what was agreed upon and discussed in previous summits.
Eight previous tripartite summits were held between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, the first was in November 2014 in the Egyptian capital. The second summit was held in April of the following year 2015 in Cyprus, then the third summit was held in December of the same year in Athens, and the fourth summit was held in Cairo in October 2016.
The fifth summit was held in November 2017, in Nicosia, then the sixth trilateral summit in Greece in October 2018, the seventh in Cairo in October 2019, and the eighth trilateral summit in Nicosia in October 2020.
Among the most prominent issues raised, according to Al-Bardisi, is the file of “confronting terrorism and addressing illegal immigration”, in addition to emphasizing respect for the rules of international law in sharing the wealth of the eastern Mediterranean, in a parallel line with working to stabilize the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, as well as addressing every action. It is inconsistent with the spirit and rules of multilateral diplomacy.
Foreign Policy
In the same context, the international relations expert explains that “Sisi’s policy seeks to follow up and strengthen Egypt’s relations with all regional and international powers and parties, in what is known as triangles, similar to the relations between Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia, AndEgypt, Greece and Cyprus, AndEgypt, Jordan and Iraq, AndEgypt, Syria and Lebanon.
He points out that this policy stems from the basis of equality, cooperation and benefit-sharing away from conflict and the fabrication of what can be avoided.
Al-Bardisi refers to the “respect of neighbors and regional as well as international powers for Egypt and Sisi, who made the country a pillar of stability and a source of safety that everyone seeks to weave effective relations with.”
