Parisian police detained a group of Ukrainian military from the Foreign Legion, who could be sent to Ukraine. It was announced on March 2 TF1 info.
Law enforcement officers checked the bus going to Ukraine the day before. About 30 passengers were in the cabin. Among them were 14 soldiers of the Foreign Legion of Ukrainian origin. No weapons were found on the bus.
“After checking the car, 30 passengers were taken to the 12th District Police Station and placed in custody for verification of the identity of each of them,” the report says.
After checking the documents, all civilians were released, 14 soldiers of the Foreign Legion were handed over to the military authorities of France. As it turned out, nine of them received permission for a 15-day leave as an exception to go to Poland and find their families. Five were in a situation of illegal absence and were considered deserters.
Currently, the Foreign Legion enlisted 700 legionnaires of Ukrainian origin. Since the beginning of the conflict, a protocol has been in place allowing those who wish to go on vacation to visit their families, provided that they do not return to Ukraine, but remain in neighboring countries.
On February 28, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Bashar Jaafari admitted that the United States intelligence services could, if necessary, transfer ISIS militants (a terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation) and other radical organizations to the territory of Ukraine. According to him, the use of mercenaries is a “proven practice” of the United States.
The situation in Donbass escalated on February 17. In the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, heavy shelling by Ukrainian security forces was reported, including from heavy weapons. The republics announced a general mobilization, the evacuation of civilians to the territory of Russia and asked for recognition of their independence.
On February 21, the Russian leader signed decrees recognizing the independence of the LNR and the DNR. On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The Ministry of Defense indicated that strikes would be carried out only on military targets, and not on civilian ones.
Since 2014, the Kiev authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine.
