The agents went to a house in the Carmen neighborhood due to complaints of inconvenience to the neighbors and the residents received them with insults, threats and blows.
“They are attacking the Local Police and they can’t beat them.” This was the call that a citizen made to the 091 telephone number of the National Police on February 3. The notice came after a brutal attack received by two agents of the Local Police of Murcia on Ciudad de Almería avenue, in the Carmen neighborhood.
Until then, four units, eight agents, of Citizen Security of the National Police Corps went to give support to the troops who were being attacked by a mob of people. The notice also reached the 092 Room, the Local Police, who came minutes later to coincide with the shift change of the night units with those of the morning.
The attack occurred around 0645 hours and lasted several minutes. A dozen people participated in it who moments before were causing noise and disturbance to the neighbors in a house occupied on said avenue. The police officers on duty received the notice and went there. They knocked on the door of the house, but no one answered. In return they received insults and threats from inside the home by the squatters. At the insistence of the agents, one of the residents left the apartment and the police proceeded to arrest him.
The brawl resulted in four detainees for a crime of attack against authority; the injured took several weeks to recover
When they were arresting him, the rest of the squatters, about twelve people, left the apartment to try to free him and that was when they began to attack the two local police officers. They were kicked in the head, punched in the face and in the back, “they beat them up,” according to a source familiar with the case. The aggression lasted for ten minutes, until the four units of the National Police arrived and, shortly after, their colleagues from the Local Police.
In total there were four detainees, accused of a crime of attacking the authority. For their part, the two agents were on leave for several weeks due to the injuries they suffered in the attack and a few days ago they rejoined the service.
