The Santander City Council will focus the events on the occasion of the International Day against Gender Violence in a concert-conference, an awareness campaign and the traditional demonstration. This was agreed this Friday by the Santander Equality Council that has held a meeting to approve the agenda planned for the celebration of 25-N, as reported by the Consistory in a press release.
The meeting, which was chaired by the area councillor, Zulema Gancedo, was attended by representatives of the municipal Corporation and sector associations. “At the City Council we consider that it is essential to raise awareness about the importance of eradicating violence against women in society, a social scourge that continues to be very present in the 21st century“Gancedo noted.
ACTS
Thus, it will develop awareness campaign ‘The thermometer of violence’which seeks to “make you reflect and help detect those attitudes or behaviors that should not be tolerated in any relationship.”
Among the events scheduled and organized by the City Council, on Thursday the 21st the concert-conference ‘The music of the silenced’ in which pieces by composers whose works “have great musical quality and do not enjoy all the recognition they deserve” will be performed with flute and piano. As explained by the Consistory, these women found themselves overshadowed by the great composers of their time and that is why they signed their works with pseudonyms, avoiding being judged for the simple fact of being women who carried out a profession traditionally reserved for men.
