The affected had to be rescued from the water by attendees of a lifeguard course
A 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital this Saturday afternoon after suffering a cardiorespiratory condition while bathing on the beach of the lost ship of La Manga, in the municipality of Cartagena. At 2:30 p.m., the 112 Emergency Coordination Service received a call alerting that the boy could not get out of the water.
The young man was able to be rescued by attendees of a lifeguard course that, coincidentally, was being held in the area. After verifying that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, they proceeded to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation first aid while waiting for the arrival of the emergency medical unit (UME) of the Emergency and Health Emergencies Management 061 sent to the scene, along with the Civil Guard and Civil Protection of Cartagena. The medical staff of the UME treated the wounded man and transferred him to the Santa Lucía hospital for admission to the ICU.
