Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 9, the Emirate of Sharjah will witness the launch of the sixth edition of the International Photography Festival “Exposure”, a global event that celebrates the art of photography and its creativity and opens a wide window for telling visual stories about the most prominent events and issues in the world.
Organized by the Sharjah Government Media Office, the festival, which will run until February 15 at the Expo Center Sharjah, will host 70 professional photographers from around the world on an inspiring platform, displaying 1,600 exceptional visual works through 45 unique and collective art exhibitions that embody the stories of peoples and their influential human experiences.
The festival, which is being held for the first time over seven continuous days, offers an integrated program that includes 28 inspirational sessions, specialized training workshops and artistic evaluation sessions. Efforts and finding effective solutions to the risks of pollution of the seas and oceans.
The list of participants includes a group of senior international photographers, most notably: Steve McCurry, owner of the “Afghan Girl” photo published by National Geographic, American photographer James Nactwe, who specializes in documenting wars and social crises, and photojournalist Brian Skerry, known for his passion for photographing wildlife and the underwater world.
Global acclaim for Xposure’s standing
The International Festival of Photography “Exposure” enjoys a prominent position in the global creative art scene, for which it has earned praise from the most prominent artists in the world, as Robin Morgan, founder and CEO of the “Iconic Images” platform, said: “Exposure is one of the most important international events that gives us an opportunity It is a real platform to highlight the power of the image and its ability to influence people’s minds and conscience, and it is a unique platform that includes an integrated world of inspiring visual creations.”

On his fourth participation in the festival, Aidan Sullivan, founder of the agency Verbatim Photo, said: “It is surprising to see the successes the festival has achieved on various levels, whether in terms of expanding space or gaining a prestigious international reputation until it became within a few years one of the most prominent events. It offers artists and photography enthusiasts the opportunity to communicate, exchange stories and experiences, and benefit from their various experiences.”
For his part, the award-winning British photographer Colin Hawkins stressed that “Xposure” plays an important role in highlighting the global standing and inspiring power of the photographic industry, as it displays under its umbrella a group of the most inspiring and influential visual works, which reflect technical skills. While Slovenian photographer Benno Saradzic believes that “Xposuer” is an ideal platform to celebrate the passion for photography and the amazing creative works of photographers, giving them the opportunity to enrich their knowledge, inspire their imaginations, and learn new stories captured by artists from all over the world.
Over the course of its previous editions, the International Photography Festival “Xposure” has witnessed remarkable growth and exceptional success, to become today the most important photography exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa region, bringing together experts, journalists, photography enthusiasts, students and educators.
