The indiscretion launched yesterday by Giorgio Terruzzi on the Corriere della Sera, on the ventilated return to the Ferrari of Jean Todt in his super-consultant duties, he has clearly found space in newspapers and specialized sites around the world. Arriving in Maranello in the mid-nineties, the transalpine manager managed to build piece by piece – even overcoming numerous difficulties – the strongest Ferrari in history, the one driven on tracks all over the world by Michael Schumacher and capable of winning five drivers’ titles and six consecutive builders. Todt will see his term as FIA president expire in these weeks (the election of his successor is scheduled for December 17, so there is a two-way fight between Graham Stoker and Mohammed Ben Sulayem) and will therefore be free from any constraint.
Despite the 76 springs, Jean Todt has been cherishing the idea of a romantic return under the aegis of the Prancing Horse for a few months, so much so that the Corriere dello Sport temporally localized the first contacts with President John Elkann “most likely in August in Le Mans and in September in Monza“. Elkann’s reflections are still ongoing and it is not yet clear what role the French could play. There was talk of a sort of ‘superconsulting’, but the Roman newspaper put forward the possibility of the role of vice president, which would allow him to remain behind the scenes without too many managerial responsibilities, while receiving important political delegations, without interfering with the duties of Mattia Binotto.
