In statements reported by the state news agency CNA, Liu said that Foxconn is adopting Nvidia’s software technologies and hardware platforms to develop human-like robots in Kaohsiung, a major port city in southern Taiwan.
Foxconn, which has already introduced non-humanoid robots in some of its production lines using Nvidia technologies, is planning to launch human-shaped robots in other services, including the healthcare industry, Liu said, without providing further details.
The partnership between Foxconn and Nvidia goes back a long way: the Taiwanese technology company is the main manufacturer of the American firm’s GB200 servers, which are essential for the development of artificial intelligence applications.
In this sense, Liu announced that Foxconn’s consolidated sales will exceed 7 trillion Taiwan dollars (about 212.6 billion dollars) in 2025, compared to the 6.2 trillion ($188,447 million) achieved in the first eleven months of last year, thanks to the strong global demand for AI applications.
Founded in 1974, Foxconn is the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, with factories and research centers in China, India, Japan, Vietnam and the United States, among other countries.
Like other technology companies, Foxconn has benefited strongly in recent months from optimism around AI development: Its shares on the Taiwan Stock Exchange have accumulated a rise of 74% in the last year.
