“Yes, I underwent surgery, it was not aesthetic, it was necessary, essential for my health,” Boluarte said in a televised message in which she was accompanied by her cabinet of ministers. The president emphasized that this intervention, which was revealed earlier this month before Congress by her former Prime Minister Alberto Otárola, It did not generate “any type of incapacity or impediment to perform” his functions.
“When the Public Ministry deigns to summon me, I will voluntarily renounce my right to medical confidentiality and hand over my clinical history,” he indicated. On December 5, the Prosecutor’s Office opened a preliminary investigation into Boluarte for the alleged commission of the crime of abandonment of position and omission of functional acts having hidden from the Council of Ministers and Congress the surgery he underwent in 2023.
The ruler said, in this regard, that she has always been “very respectful of the authorities of the judicial system”, but assured that for “quite a long time, systematically” she has been “subject to permanent harassment with the sole purpose of generating a crisis” in his Government.
