Seville Firefighters declared the fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon in the Rocío Jurado Auditorium extinguished at 12:10 a.m. and whose smoke reached areas of the city center and the Triana neighborhood. The National Police is investigating the causes that caused the fire.
According to Emergencies Seville on their social networks, consulted by Europa Press, “no people were affected” in the fire. For its part, according to municipal sources, everything indicates that it has been “allegedly provoked.”
The fire broke out around 8:05 p.m. in the Auditorium, located on Avenida Camino de los Descubrimientos on Isla de la Cartuja, and the situation was controlled around 10:35 p.m.
The fire has caused “abundant smoke” that has reached some areas of the city center and the Triana neighborhood. Several calls received on telephone numbers 080, 092 and 112 alerted about the start of the fire.
After criticism on social networks from the PSOE, whose councilor Juan Carlos Cabrera has linked the fire to the fact that the City Council has “left the Rocío Jurado Auditorium and its surroundings to its fate for months”, municipal sources have explained that the Seville City Council “has “We recovered effective possession of the property a few days ago, after the bankruptcy of the company that ran it and after a long judicial process.”
Along with this, the same sources have stressed that “the City Council of Seville, from the Heritage and Municipal Buildings delegation, acted immediately, once possession of the building was assumed, blocking off the entrances to the building and had also initiated the procedures to establish surveillance of the premises.”
