Today in the Palencia town of Paredes de Nava, Iberdrola has awarded the best initiatives for environmental, agricultural and social coexistence with renewable energies to highlight the best works and projects that exemplify that the energy transition can coexist with the rural world and promote job creation and development.
The event was attended by the president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán; the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco; the mayor of Paredes de Nava, Luis Antonio Calderón; the president of the Palencia Provincial Council, Ángeles Armisén; the CEO of Iberdrola Spain, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, and the Minister of Economy of the Government of Castilla y León, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, among other authorities.
Ignacio Galán has highlighted the benefits that green energy has for the rural environment during these recognitions that have brought together more than 300 people: “today We recognize brave bets for the energy transition. We advocate promoting industry, employment and the future to create a more just, fraternal and sustainable society.” “Iberdrola was born on this land more than 120 years ago. Since then we have maintained a spirit of service that guides, from the beginning, all the projects we undertake, from the largest to the smallest. We know that harmony with local administrations and the communities in which we are present is essential to achieve more objectives and make this energy transition more tangible and fair,” added the president of the electricity company.
Iberdrola, in this second edition of the Convive Awards together with the Center for Innovation in Technology for Human Development of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (itdUPM), has recognized the City Councils of Paredes de Nava and La Serna and Técnicas e Instalaciones Eléctricas Salamanca (Tecinsa) as the Castilian and Leonese initiatives awarded in this second edition of the Convive Awards.
Spanish Network for Sustainable Development; Ocean Ecostructures; Iberian Press; Center for Research in Biodiversity and Global Change of the UAM, and Patricia Rebollo, pastor of the Ceclavín photovoltaics, are the other recognized projects from different places in Spain.
An independent jury formed by Carlos Mataix, director of the Center for Technological Innovation for Human Development (itdUPM); María García de la Fuente, president of the Association of Environmental Information Journalists (APIA); José Carlos Díez, director of the Responsible Renewable Chair of the University of Alcalá; Víctor Viñuales, executive director of the Ecology and Development Foundation (ECODES); Elena Pita, director of the Biodiversity Foundation; Ana Barreira, director of the International Institute of Law and Environment (IIDMA) and Juan José Álvarez, secretary of ASAJA, have been responsible for choosing the winners who will become part of the repository of winners, with special recognition and the possibility of other visibility elements of your project.
Living in harmony with the environment
Iberdrola’s Convive Program was created with the aim of ffacilitate the acceleration of the development of renewable energies in Spain, improving their contribution to the territories, society, biodiversity and the rural world.
This initiative pursues two objectives: on the one hand, an internal one, promoting continuous improvement and the best practices available in the integration of renewables in the environment and on the other, an external one, positively contributing to local development and biodiversity conservation through collaboration and establishing alliances.
These actions help to establish long-term and sustainable relationships with the surroundings of Iberdrola facilities, contributing to the social license of the projects by working at all times hand in hand with citizens, institutions, administration, etc.
