Cooking is one of the most demanding tasks at home. This is not only due to all the processes involved, such as selecting the necessary ingredients, buying them, cutting or chopping them and starting to prepare them; but also because of all the subsequent cleaning processes or because of how complex it can be to carry out all these tasks when you do not have much time for them.
For this reason, many people resort to methods that simplify the procedure, such as purchasing microwave food, which only requires a few minutes of cooking, or letting the dishes cook slowly in the oven while other tasks are carried out at home.
This last option is very common, making the oven an essential appliance in daily cooking processes at home. However, continued use and wear and tear could be fatal if not treated correctly, significantly reducing its useful life.
Maintaining regular cleaning is essential so that meals are as tasty as possible and it can also be carried out with products for daily use in the home. Therefore, it is important to know some tricks on how to clean the double glass of the oven without having to dismantle it.
How to clean the double glass of the oven without having to dismantle it
Most ovens have double glass doors, one facing the outside of the kitchen and the other facing the inside of the appliance. However, between both surfaces it is common to find a gap in which grease, condensation and food remains accumulate regularly, worsening its aesthetics and function.
Addressing the cleaning of these holes is vital to prolong the useful life of the kitchen appliance, although it is not a simple task, since it can also vary between models. Therefore, before starting cleaning, check your model and make sure that the oven is completely cool to be able to carry out the process safely.
Once the area is secured, begin mixing baking soda with water until it forms a paste. Next, apply it to surfaces, both interior and exterior, and let it sit for half an hour. After that, use a scouring sponge or a damp microfiber cloth to remove all the excess. Finish this part of the cleaning by wiping the surfaces with a dry cloth or a piece of kitchen paper without applying excessive pressure to eliminate moisture and ensure that no traces of water remain on the glass.
Once both areas have been sanitized, it will be time to treat the gap located between the two surfaces. To do this, check if your oven has a hole through which a tool can enter; this opening is usually located at the bottom of the door, so you may have to unhook it from the rest of the appliance.
When you see the hole, line a wooden spatula, a ruler or any sufficiently long and thin tool with a microfiber cloth or a damp cloth. Next, secure the coating with a rope or adhesive tape until you check that it does not come away from the pushing surface.
Spray white cleaning vinegar on the tool and insert it into the hole. After that, rub the inside of both crystals with gentle movements and in all possible directions until you obtain the desired results. It is important to be patient and rub slowly to prevent any part of the improvised utensil from coming off.
On the other hand, if the oven door does not have any opening, there may be no other option than to remove the screws from the door to remove both glasses and be able to manually scrub afterwards. This option will allow for easier cleaning, although the subsequent disassembly and assembly process may take a couple of hours depending on the model and the tools available.
How to clean the rest of the oven parts
Once the oven door has been sanitized, you can take advantage of the opportunity to clean the rest of the parts of the appliance. To do this, use the mixture of baking soda and water prepared previously and spread it on the walls of the oven, avoiding covering the resistance and the fans.
After that, let it sit for a couple of hours until the mixture is completely dry and finish by spraying white cleaning vinegar on the hardened compound. Once all the products have worked, rub with a scouring sponge or a damp microfiber cloth to remove all excess residue.
Soak the trays and racks in hot water with white cleaning vinegar for half an hour. Afterwards, rub with a scouring pad or metal brush to remove all the dirt. Finally, let all parts dry before putting the appliance back into operation.
