The Alicante Civil Guard is investigating the death of a minor under 15 years of age allegedly at the hands of his ex-partner, another minor under 17 years of age, in Orihuela Costa.
The victim received several stabs on the neck this Sunday night in the middle of the street in the Alicante municipality. The aggressor, who is accused of an alleged crime of homicide, was arrested hours later, sources from the armed institute told ABC.
The young woman, of Spanish nationality, was taken to the Torrevieja University Hospital, where she died as a result of the serious stab wounds she suffered.
The Civil Guard was aware of the death of the minor at 9:10 p.m. It is being investigated whether it was her brother who took her to the hospital. Later, around 11:30 p.m., the officers her ex-boyfriend was arrested and they reported what happened to the Alicante Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office and the Orihuela Guard Court.
The Women-Minor Team (EMUME) of the Alicante Command has taken charge of the investigation. The Government Delegation against Gender Violence is collecting data given the possibility that it is a new sexist murder.
There were no previous complaints
The victim was not included in the Comprehensive Monitoring System for Gender Violence Cases (VioGén) nor had she filed no prior complaint against the detainee, as confirmed by the general secretary of the Government Subdelegation in Alicante, José Antonio Cuadros, after an institutional event on the occasion of November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has explained that at the moment they can only confirm that the minor is arrested and the investigation has been prosecuted, so he has asked to wait for progress to “determine the circumstances.”
«Without making any assessment of the facts or the scope they may have, I do highlight the importance of education in values, the importance of our boys and girls knowing that gender violence cannot be part of their landscape, their education and their training and their day-to-day life,” he told journalists after another event for the 25N in Valencia.
The Orihuela City Council, at whose doors a minute of silence was observed this Monday, has decreed a day of official mourning after the tragic event.
