Six people, four of them minors, have died in a traffic accident This occurred around 7:50 p.m. this Saturday in the vicinity of Mahón, at the access from the industrial estate to the Menorca airport road.
Apparently, the deceased were circulating without using the seat beltaccording to sources.
Sources from the DGT, the Civil Guard and 061 have reported that the deceased minors had from 9 to 16 yearswhile the two adults are a 46-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man.
Three of the minors are the woman’s children, two 9 year old boys and an 11 year old girland the other is a 16-year-old teenager, daughter of the man who was driving the car.
The Civil Guard is investigating the causes of the accident, in which no other vehicle has been involved, although the first indications point to possible speeding.
The car in which the six victims were traveling, a Kia Creed, has left the road at a roundabout at kilometer 0.5 of the Me-14 highway, next to the Menorca airport.
The car has violently crashed into a wall located next to the road and the six occupants of the vehicle, who apparently were not wearing seat belts, died from the impact.
They have traveled to the scene of the events three ambulancesmembers of the Civil Guard and agents of the Menorca firefighterswho had to intervene to remove the deceased from the remains of the vehicle, deformed by the collision.
According to statistics from the General Directorate of Traffic, this year they have died 32 people in accidents in the Balearic Islandsbetween January 1 and November 21, a figure to which a cyclist who died this Saturday in Bunyola and the six victims in Menorca would be added.
