The Edmonton Oilers are not really getting on track in the North American professional ice hockey league NHL this season. Last season’s Stanley Cup finalists lost to the Minnesota Wild 3:5 (1:1, 1:3, 1:1). It was the third defeat in the last four games. Leon Draisaitl was lucky to give the Oilers the lead after just 27 seconds when a pass from him from his own half was deflected several times and Wild goalkeeper Marc-Andre Fleury slipped through. For Draisaitl, the goal was counted as his 15th goal of the season, putting the German international at the top of the league’s top scorer list. The 39-year-old Fleury recovered from the mishap in his 1,030th NHL game and then made 29 saves. A balanced game was ultimately decided by Frederick Gaudreau with two goals for the Wild. The other Germans in the NHL also had an up-and-down evening. Tim Stützle suffered his fourth defeat in a row with the Ottawa Senators when they lost 3-2 to the Vegas Golden Knights. Stützle contributed an assist, his 15th of the season. Moritz Seider and the Detroit Red Wings won 2-1 against the New York Islanders thanks to two late goals. Lukas Reichel won 3-1 with the Chicago Blackhawks against the Florida Panthers, but was only on the ice for a few minutes. Nico Sturm is still missing from his San Jose Sharks; The Sharks lost to the St. Louis Blues 2-3 after a penalty shootout.
