Pedro Sánchez already has a replacement for the future vice president of the European Commission. Sara Aagesen, current Secretary of State for Energy, will replace Teresa Ribera in the Third Vice Presidency and the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, as ‘La Vanguardia’ has announced and ABC has been able to confirm.
The one who will be the new head of the Ecological Transition portfolio will assume the Ministry amid criticism from the opposition for the management of DANA. In this context, the Sánchez Executive entrusts Aagesen to lead the department for the remainder of the legislature and Moncloa’s decision is that he also assume the third Vice Presidency left by Teresa Ribera.
Aagesen is a chemical engineer from the Complutense University of Madrid, with a specialty in Environment. In 2002 he joined the Climate Change Office, where he has developed a career linked to climate action and the energy transition. Among other responsibilities, he has participated in the design and development of innovative measures and instruments for the mitigation of climate change in Spain.
