The ‘dirty’ thing that drives Arguiñano crazy
If Arguiñano’s cuisine is characterized by something, it is its cleanliness and orderand it could be said that, even if it is through the screen, the Beasaindarra chef transmits peace while he cooks and cleans as he goes, and although the cook is always in a good mood and overflows with jokes and joy, there are also things that irritate him.
During the presentation of his latest recipe book, the chef assured that if there is something that drives him crazy, it is that people throw oil down the sink.
“90% of people threw dirty oil down the sink. There will be those who continue doing that and they won’t care, but that’s real filth“said the chef about this unhygienic issue that is a classic in many Spanish kitchens.
As the chef explained, the correct way to proceed is to store the oil in a glass jar and then throw it into a clean place when it is full, since when the oil is dirty and mixes with tap water becomes a polluting waste in the environment. “Our cholesterol is what we transmit to all the pipes in the house,” stated the chef.
Olive oil, a kitchen gem that can be very polluting
From cooking professionals to amateurs, to those who only touch the stove for mere survival, society is increasingly becoming more aware of the importance of recycling and thus be more respectful of the environment.
In the case of oil, although no one can deny that it is authentic liquid gold and one of the products for which we pride ourselves on the international scene, it is also an ingredient that can be very harmful to the ecosystem if we do not dispose of it in the correct way.
As the chef explained, the ideal is to store the oil in a jar and then take it to a clean point, since it only one liter of oil can contaminate up to 1,000 liters of waterin addition to causing traffic jams and bad odors and we throw it down the drains. So yes, we will have to listen to Arguiñano one more day to avoid contaminating wastewater and taking care of the environment in which we live.
