The candidate for attorney general of the United States, Matt Gaetz, This Thursday he resigned from aspiring to the position after President-elect Donald Trump proposed his name and the scandal over alleged sexual abuse broke out. He himself has communicated it through his profile on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
«Yesterday I met, with excellent results, with the senators. I appreciate your thoughtful comments and the incredible support from many of you. Although the support was great, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction from critical work of the Trump/Vance transition,” he wrote.
And he added: “There is no time to waste in an unnecessarily prolonged brawl in Washington, so I will withdraw my name from consideration to serve as attorney general. “Trump’s Justice Department must be in place and ready on day one.”

«I remain fully committed to seeing that Donald J. Trump is the most successful president in history. “I will always feel honored that he nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I am confident that he will save the United States,” he concluded.
Shortly after Trump nominated Gaetz as attorney general, the existence of an investigation into the candidate for the position regarding sexual abuse emerged. According to the investigations, a woman claimed having had sexual relations with the deputy in exchange for money when he was 17 years old and that of another who has sworn to have witnessed the encounter.
After Trump’s announcement of the candidacies, the United States Senate must now confirm the appointments. It is from this race that Gaetz has retired.
