The approval, in a timely manner, of the Generalitat Budgets for 2025 was set by the president Salvador Illa as the confirmation that Catalan politics, after the years of shocks of the ‘procés‘, had entered a phase of normality. Well, it’s not going to be like that, at least not completely.
There will be no Budgets on January 1, as confirmed this morning by Illa himself, reaffirming the position expressed by the Government itself, which last week already advanced that the negotiations with ERC and the Commons They are not moving fast enough to start the year with approved accounts.
“I care more about having a good budget and having a budget than not having it on January 1,” he explained this morning on Catalunya Ràdio, assuming that the congressional processes of the two parties with which he carried out the investment prevent closing the agreement. It will be adopted “as soon as possible.” No accidents are expected along the way: neither of the two candidates with the best chance of winning the ERC congress (November 30) questions the policy of collaboration with the PSC. The same thing happens with the commons.
«It’s difficult, but the same thing would happen if I were in your situation. I understand that they must carry out this process, and then we will continue working and we will continue to see how it can be done,” he responded when asked about the situation of Esquerra.
On the other hand, and coinciding with 100 days since his inauguration (August 8), Illa has also reviewed other issues, including his interview with the former president of the Generalitat Jordi Pujol – “a person who has governed for 23 years cannot be put aside just like that,” he said, “and the possibility of meeting with the escaped Carles Puigdemont, which will take place “whenever it’s time.”
For the president of the Generalitat, and as a balance after 100 days in the Government, there is a “progressive political normalizationinstitutional and social in Catalonia».
