In 125 years of history, the Madrid Metro It hides countless stories and curiosities that make the most popular means of transport in the capital a source of study.
And the tiktoker knows that well Helio Roquewhich on its channel and in collaborations with other accounts dedicated to Madrid, offers many anecdotes and explanations about the suburban.
In one of the last ones, for the ‘Madrid secreto’ account, he explains why many of the Metro stations have such a strident color on their walls.
From the beginning of the clip we realize that Roque himself does not like walls very much: «Why do they have such hideous colors?», he asks, before proceeding to the explanation.
The technical explanation
«We are neither more nor less than before the vitrified panels. This coating makes life easier for maintenancesince it is a material that allows you to remove graffiti and other cleaning without much effort,” he says.
“It also serves to isolate the interior of the stations from humidity, since the panels are separated from the perforation walls by a few centimeters and in this space there is a channel that collects all the leaks,” he adds.
“It is a super expensive material because it requires labor that you don’t see,” he details.
However, Helio Roque insists, precisely to his taste, they are not: «And besides, it is ugly. Why not some tiles?he asks, alluding to other stations on the line that have not been renovated and maintain their old decoration.
“Why do you prevent us from being happy?”he adds, in a humorous tone, before asking the account’s followers what they think of this aesthetic.
