Saint Andrew Avelino, an Italian priest of the Order of Clerics Regular, was ordained in 1545. At first, he devoted himself to studying law and worked as a lawyer in the archiepiscopal curia of Naples. However, after surviving an assassination attempt, he decided to abandon his legal career and joined religious life as a member of the Theatine Order. For more than ten years, he was master of novices and then held the positions of prefect in the house of Naples and vicar in the house of Milan. In Milan, he established a deep friendship with the saint Charles Borromeo. Saint Andrew Avelino died in 1608 and his tomb is in the church of San Paolo Maggiore in Naples.
