Google is working on a new artificial intelligence (AI) solution that will automate various daily tasks within the webaccording to The Information. The development is defined as “an agent capable of using computers” and could be presented in a preliminary version later this year.
The report indicates that the proposal is known internally as ‘Project Jarvis’. It would be designed to collect and process information that appears on a computer screen. Could interpret specific data available on the pages on-lineexecute action buttons and add information in text boxes. All automatically based on pre-established commands. The tool would be useful for opening pages of interest on the web, gathering search data, completing recurring questionnaires, making online purchases or booking flights, according to the leaked information.
The advance would come to market as an update to Gemini, Google’s family of AI models. In a first stage it would be optimized specifically to operate on the Chrome platform. It would not work in desktop applications or in software adapted for mobiles. The Mountain View company intends to launch it in the coming weeks among a select group of testers to detect and fix possible errors. The official presentation is scheduled for December. The report has not been denied or confirmed by the big tech.
Google wants to mark the next step in AI
The supposed development of this new assistant comes to light at a time when the main players in the AI industry are trying to give AI a more intuitive and autonomous approach in multiple areas. In February, it was announced that OpenAI was developing a new type of intelligent operating system capable of completing various tasks in certain computer applications. The computer program would be able to select options. move the cursor and write text by yourself. In recent days Anthropic announced a new version of Claude, its AI model, which can operate a computer in a similar way to a human.
Although these products represent an important advance for the AI industry, they have also raised new concerns about the social and economic impacts that the evolution of the technology without adequate safeguards can have. The ability of these systems to collect and use certain data on behalf of users for different purposes is in the midst of debate.
Developers of AI-based solutions face a shortage of training content. Publishers and online platforms are taking stricter measures to prevent their publications from being used to train products like Gemini or GPT. User-generated information has become the new training basis for these intelligent algorithms. Experts warn that handing over control of a personal computer to an AI, at least partially, can open a window for subscribers’ personal material to be used for this purpose.
On the other hand, analysts point out that the most advanced AI tools are still imprecise. They warn that leaving tasks that involve online payments or the handling of sensitive information, for example, in the hands of these semi-autonomous assistants, could create risky situations for people.
