Porsche expands the 911 range with the addition of the light and dynamic Carrera T. Weight reduction, dynamic tuning and manual transmission make it a Carrera with a purist approach, providing superlative driving pleasure. With its lightened windows, reduced insulation and manual transmission, the lightest configuration of the new 911 Carrera T, with bucket seats, weighs just 1,478 kilograms. Thus equipped, the car is 40 kg lighter than the current 911 Carrera. For the first time, the 911 Carrera T is also available with a convertible body.
The “T” stands for Touring and its history dates back to the homologation of the 911 T in 1968. The first model was offered until 1973. In 2017, Porsche revived this variant, which was positioned between the Carrera and Carrera S. Pure driving pleasure, agile handling, emotional sound and a clear focus on what is essential are the distinguishing features of this rear-wheel drive sports vehicle.
Numerous details distinguish the Carrera T from other versions. On each rear window, a sticker that evokes the gear scheme on the knob identifies it as a manual transmission version, especially purist within the range. The variant name on the rear is in the contrast color Vanadium gray. The rear lid grille inserts, the upper and lower trim of the exterior mirrors and the machined light alloy wheels are painted in matching Vanadium Gray Metallic. Another feature of the Carrera T is the aerodynamically optimized spoiler, taken from the 911 Carrera GTS.
For the Porsche Carrera T, the Legends color range offers Shade Green Metallic, Crayon and Slate Neo Gray body tones, while the Dreams range includes Guardia Red, Lugano Blue, Gentian Blue Metallic and Cartagena Yellow Metallic. .
Manual transmission and six-cylinder biturbo boxer engine
The 911 Carrera T is powered by the 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine from the 911 Carrera. It has 394 horsepower (290 kW) and develops a maximum torque of 450 Nm. The standard six-speed manual gearbox diverts power to the rear axle. This transmission has a selectable function called auto-blip, which automatically compensates for the difference in engine revolutions between gears when downshifting. With the Sport Chrono package, which is also part of the standard equipment, the Carrera T Coupé reaches 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.7 seconds). Its maximum speed is 295 km/h (Cabriolet: 293 km/h). In line with the increase in power compared to its predecessor, it has a more powerful brake system, with 350 millimeter diameter discs and six-piston fixed calipers at the front.
The Sport Chrono package, including the Porsche Track Precision appis part of the standard equipment on the 911 Carrera T. In addition, for the first time Porsche also offers rear axle steering as standard on this model, combined with a more direct ratio for the front axle, thus optimizing maneuverability. In this way, the steering wheel response is more precise and both lateral acceleration and stability improve. The rear axle steering adjustment has been developed specifically for the 911 Carrera T.
The PASM adaptive sports suspension system, which lowers the ride height by 10 mm, is also standard and receives a unique tuning for the Carrera T, in order to achieve even better and more agile dynamics. The rear axle steering and the aerodynamics optimized exclusively for this 911 have allowed the stabilizer bars of both axles to be adjusted to achieve neutral behavior.
The 911 Carrera T rides on 20/21-inch Carrera S alloy wheels. The front tires are 245/35 ZR20 and the rear tires are 305/30 ZR21.
Carrera T packages for exterior and interior
The exclusivity of the 911 Carrera T is enhanced by the Carrera T design packages for the exterior and interior. The classic Porsche Gentian blue color creates a striking color contrast. On the outside, the inserts on the rear hood, the Carrera T stickers on the front, rear and doors, MT adhesives and the light alloy wheels with a shiny front are in this color. The upper casings of the exterior mirrors are black. As standard, contrast stitching in Gentian Blue, rather than black, enhances the interior, including seats with contrast stripes in that hue. The same color adorns the seat belts, center console trim and door panels, as well as contrast inserts and 911 logos sewn into the headrests.
Orders can now be placed for the new Porsche 911 Carrera T, whose final price in Spain is 164,508 euros. In the case of the 911 Carrera T Cabriolet, the final price is 180,565 euros.
