The scientists have already warned, they should leave them alone

We have been hearing about the “climate emergency” for years, because the scientists who study it define it in those terms. The expression is not liked by some, who have been accusing scientists of exaggerating for the same number of years because these things have always happened: heat, cold, torrential rains, disasters… I wonder how many more deaths due to extreme phenomena will be needed to convince them of which is a climate emergency.

I no longer even go into why we are like this, how we got to this, how climate change can be mitigated or what we are willing to sacrifice to do so; I do not enter into that deep debate that we must consider as a society. I’m talking about putting a name to what is happening: climate emergency; and to assume that we are going to take risks that we did not count on: “Climate scientists have been warning for years that climate change will cause more intense rains, and the tragic consequences show that we have a long way to go to prepare for this type of events, and worse, in the future,” Liz Stephens, professor of Climate Risks and Resilience at the University of Reading (United Kingdom), told us a few hours after DANA devastated the province of Valencia.
