Emmanuel Macron and the French Interior Minister express their willingness to support rescue efforts
In the middle of the afternoon on Thursday, Emmanuel Macron made public his solidarity with Spain, the Spanish, and his offer of immediate help to the government of Pedro Sánchez. «The floods in the Valencia region and their drama affect us deeply. France expresses all its solidarity with the Spanish people. And we make available to the Spanish people and the government all the aid that is necessary in terms of civil and social security. “We are willing to provide all the help we can to the first responders and the Spanish people,” he said.
Macron was in Morocco when he made that first declaration of solidarity and proposal for concrete and immediate help, in all areas that the Spanish authorities considered appropriate.
Following the offer from the head of state, Bruno Retailleau, minister of the interior (hard right), reiterated the offer of immediate help, at his level, confirming it publicly in these terms: «I hastened to call my Spanish colleague, Fernando Grande -Marlaska, to express France’s practical and moral support for Spain. “I have told him that we are willing to immediately send firefighters to work and help the Spanish security forces.”
All radio and television channels gave the timely news, on Thursday afternoon, of France’s practical and moral solidarity, expressed personally by the head of state and the Minister of the Interior.
Official sources from the Generalitat Valenciana indicate that they do not have any official reception from France.
