The Government of Cantabria will launch starting January 1 the new tax deduction for housing rentals. This deduction, which will be 500 euros, will be aimed at homes that have been empty for at least a year and whose price does not exceed 1,000 euros.
Furthermore, among the requirements it stands out that the property must be rented for a minimum period of three yearsalthough the concatenation of several contracts to different tenants is allowed. Excluded from this initiative are those owners whose tenants are direct relatives and those who own more than three homes, as detailed this Thursday by the Minister of Economy, Luis Ángel Agüeros, in the presentation of the General Budgets of Cantabria (PGC) for 2025.
HOUSING DEFICIT
Agüeros has stressed that this deduction, included in the next financial year’s accounts along with three other new ones, is one of the “star measures” of the budget document, designed with the objective of “alleviating the rental housing deficit suffered by the entire State.”
The Budgets – for which the PP, which governs in a minority, has already obtained the support of the PRC after a negotiation – will come into force on January 1 and with it also the new deductions, so that they can be applied in the declaration of the income of 2025.
