Ylenia Padilla is, without a doubt, the contestant of ‘Gandía Shore’ that has had the most impact at the national level. Since her rise to stardom, the one from Benidorm has participated in several television programs, both as a participant and as a talk show host, and has traveled to all corners of Spain to meet her die-hard fans, who number in the tens of thousands. However, from one day to the next, he decided to move away from the media spotlight after starring in notorious disputes, both on social networks and on the small screen.
It was in May of this year when his name once again made headlines after it was published that he faced up to four years in prison for the transphobic insults he made about the comedian Elsa Ruiz. According to the newspaper ‘Público’, the Court of Instruction number 9 of Madrid ordered Ylenia Padilla to the dock for an alleged crime against the dignity of the person due to their sexual identity. Thus, article 10 of the Penal Code states that those who commit this type of offense “shall be punished with a prison sentence of one to four years and a fine of six to twelve months.” They also pointed out that the Valencian woman did not want to testify.
Until now. Ylenia Padilla has spoken with Marina Esnal to clarify some of the things that were said about her when said information was published. Although he does not want to return to the media spotlight – “he is neither there nor wants to. She asks to be forgotten” – she does want to give some details of the legal dispute in which she is immersed: “They ask for it for a hate crime against the trans community, not directly against Elsa Ruiz as is being said. He tells me that the National Court asks the other party to specify what the hate crime against Elsa is so that it can move forward,” explains the journalist in the mouth of the Valencian.
In one of his worst moments
Regarding the moment in which he poured out those insults against Elsa Ruiz, “she was in a state of mental collapse and was not in the best circumstances. It was as a result of being subjected to a lynching for three months in which she exploded. “She tells me that she has always been an ally of the group, but that this person, in particular, has publicly insulted her.” But not only her: “She also received insults from other television programs in which they supposedly accused her of being a drug addict.” All this would have led her to explode publicly: «It is a consequence of all that and her publishing some opinions on the law of only yes is yes. “That has taken a huge toll on him and that it is like a witch hunt.” «I see an aunt with noble background. It’s in it, in controlling those impulses,” says Esnal.
