Íñigo Errejón, spokesperson for Sumar in Congresshas announced his resignation and his withdrawal from institutional politics. In a statement, Errejón explained that the decision has been meditated on in recent months, pointing out physical, mental and emotional wear and tear after a decade on the political front line. In it, the “contradiction between the public figure and the person” stands out as one of the main reasons for his departure.

This resignation marks his farewell to Congress and active politics.

According to information from Público.esErrejón would have resigned after receiving accusations of sexist violence.

“It all stems from a publication by the journalist Cristina Fallarás on Instagram that included the anonymous complaint of a woman who narrated the episodes of abuse,” the newspaper notes.
