The former CEO of the well-known fashion company Abercrombie & Fitch, Mike Jeffries, where he worked between 1992 and 2014, and two other men were arrested this Tuesday by the FBI on charges of sexually exploiting and abusing young men whom they lured with the proposal to turn them into models for the company, according to the media.
The alleged abuse of the young people, who apparently forced to use drugs and perform sexual actsoccurred in the United States and other countries, according to a complaint filed by the victims a year ago and investigated by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
The other two arrested have been identified as Matt Smitt, of Florida, and couple from Jeffries, and Jim Jacobson, from Wisconsin, where he was arrested, who allegedly recruited the young people. Both were arrested in their respective states.
Jeffries, who took Abercrombie from a traditional clothing brand in Ohio to a powerful brand focused on teenagers, He has previously been accused in civil lawsuits of exploiting young men for sexual purposes at parties he hosted at his property in the Hamptons, New York, and in European cities such as Venice and London.
The former Abercrombie CEO left the company with a retirement package of more than 25 million dollarsaccording to the legal document cited by the media.
The arrests come a year after the BBC published a report alleging that Jeffries exploited men at sex parties he organized.
The article cited 12 men who said they had attended or organized events that included sexual acts for the now former Abercrombie executive and his partner Smith, the network recalls NBC.
The company has hired a law firm to carry out your own research of the accusations.
