The president of the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV), Andoni Ortuzarexpressed this Tuesday his support in Congress for the reduction of working hours to 37.5 hours. “In principle, we would vote yes,” he acknowledged in an interview on TVE.
Ortuzar has pointed out that the working day of 37.5 hours a week in Euskadi, is implemented “in most of the labor network via collective agreements, removing a few sectors”, such as hospitality or commerce.
«In industry, in public or parapublic services, the 37 and a half hour day is already a fact, it is a reality in our country. Therefore, For us, the acceptance of that measure is not a drama.», he assured.
However, Ortuzar considers that, first, “it must be left to the capacity for agreement between social agents,” says EP. “These things are better to come, rather than regulated by law, by labor agreements, social agreements between employers and unions,” he stressed, to explain that, in principle, would vote yes in Congress to reducing the working day.
Díaz sends another ultimatum to the CEOE
The second vice president of the Government and minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Diazmade it clear this Tuesday to the CEOE that he either supports the reduction of working hours to 37.5 hours per week or sends this reform to Congress for approval even if it does not have the endorsement of businessmen.
«The work of the social dialogue table, with the departure for the Congress of Deputies, is already at this moment, in the exit lane. That is to say, if there is an agreement, I am willing to continue working on whatever is necessary, as we always do, but it is in the process of leaving for the Congress of Deputies,” she stressed.
