The images of Yahya Sinwar’s last moments – top leader of Hamas and mastermind of the terrorist attacks of October 7 – have gone around the world. In them you can see a defeated Sinwar, who only has one stick left to defend himself from the Israeli attacks, which already leave a balance of 42,500 dead in the Gaza Strip. But that was not the only video that Israel has revealed about the assassination of the Islamist leader, since they have also released a recording of the attack that ended his life.
At the beginning of the video you can see a tank approaching to the ruined building where Sinwar was located. The camera focuses on the military vehicle and then rotates to capture the moment in which the building is hit by the projectiles fired. The tank fires, an explosion is observed in the building and little by little smoke begins to come out of the same. Then the recording stops.
But this was not the only material that Israel released this Friday afternoon. They have also published photographs of weapons that the Israeli Army found in the building where Sinwar was taking refuge, including at least three rifles and ammunition. These images have come to light after the Israeli intelligence service released a series of images of Sinwar’s corpse.
The death of the Hamas leader has served to make both the opposition of the Israeli Government and the families of the hostages who remain captive in the Gaza Strip demand that the prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu the return of the kidnapped. The US, for its part, sees Sinwar’s death as “an opportunity” to reach an agreement to end the war, although he acknowledges that there is still “a lot of work ahead.” In any case, at the moment it does not seem that the end of the war will come soon.
From Hamas they have sent a message to Israel to inform that the death of its leaders “It doesn’t even mean the end of the movement nor that of the struggle of the Palestinian people.” In addition, Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas official, has assured that the Palestinian movement will not release the hostages until Israel ends the war. For his part, Benjamin Netanyahu has assured that the fall of Sinwar “it is the beginning of the day after Hamas”but that the Israeli “mission” cannot yet be considered over.
