National Vintage Vehicle Day is celebrated on 29 September, a day promoted by ASI, the Italian Historic Automotoclub, and a reference point for historic motoring in Italy since 1966. This date was created to celebrate the technical and cultural heritage of the historic Italian world on wheels , as well as the cars and motorbikes that have made history, becoming symbols of style, innovation and culture.

The Subito marketplace has tried to analyze Italians’ passion for vintage cars, with users increasingly searching for this type of car but also spare parts and other objects. Over 1 million visitors search this topic every day, with classic cars in the top ten of the most recharged on Subito Motori since 2018, confirming that classic car enthusiasts continue over the years to find the platform the best place to find “new” gems. In particular, “epoch” and “ASI” are consistently among the 10 most searched words on the platform, net of brand and model. Today in Italy there are 4.3 million historic cars, of which 388 thousand are on the ACI protection list, and research on Subito shows how Italians’ passion for vintage vehicles is ever growing. Going into detail about the first six months of 2024, searches on the platform for the word “era” recorded an increase of 16%. Furthermore, the dedication to the meticulous search for models, which are certified as authentic vintage vehicles, can be seen in the over 186 thousand searches for the word “ASI” within Subito Motori, in the Cars and Motorbikes & Scooters sections in the first six months alone of the year, an increase of 11% compared to 2023.

Currently, by searching for “vintage vehicles” on the platform, you will find over 40 thousand live adverts, including some gems. On Subito, in fact, it is possible to find various models produced by both the most established car manufacturers and niche brands that have only produced a few examples in limited series over the years. Like the 1969 Fiat 500, a replica of the Spiaggina on sale for €21,500 and the Lamborghini Countach 500 S in white, among the most historic models on the platform and currently on sale for €745,000.
The most sought after cars
Among the most sought-after models on the platform, they range from brands and models that are symbols of the automotive sector and of which new versions are still produced today, up to examples that have remained in history. In particular, the most searched models in the first six months of 2024 are primarily the iconic vintage Fiat 500, confirming the unconditional love that binds Italians to this icon of the Turin car manufacturer. There is no shortage of searches for other vintage and youngtimer gems, such as the Porsche 911 in second place, followed in third by the iconic Volkswagen Beetle, and in fourth by the Alfa Giulia to close in fifth place with another classic from Fiat, the Fiat 124 spider. Not just cars, on the platform it is possible to find over 16 thousand live ads dedicated to vintage motorbikes that have marked the history of two wheels, including the vintage Piaggio model – Vespa GL 150 Sidecar from 1964. Searches on this segment in the first six months of 2024, an increase of 15% compared to the same period last year.
