The accusation of the Aprilia pilot
“I still can’t believe it, the message that is being sent is that you can do whatever you want. One driver touched the other, they both went off the track and they weren’t even investigated. It doesn’t make sense”. Aleix Espargaro he did not hide his shock at what happened and – above all – in light of what did not happen in the post-race rematch at Misano.
On the last lap, Enea Bastianini attacked Jorge Martin at the Rio curve braking point, forcing his rival to lift his bike and end up long in the escape route. The official Ducati rider stopped his bike over the kerb beyond the limits of the track and thus won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The episode was not even investigated by the Commissionerstechnically Bastianini did not go on the green but on the ‘blue’ and therefore no sanction was triggered by the Stewards who could have been put into action by a possible protest or complaint which did not arrive from the Pramac team.
“I don’t understand and I’m very disappointed, I don’t know why the Commissioners didn’t intervene – added the Aprilia rider – I am worried because this is a very dangerous precedent”. An obvious deduction from the veteran of the starting grid, a maneuver that opens up to Wild West scenarios from here to Valencia.
