FREEDOM WARS REMASTERED announced for PlayStation, Switch and PC

BANDAI NAMCO Europe he announced FREEDOM WARS REMASTEREDremastered version for the beloved title DimpsThe game will be available in Europe starting from next January 10, 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. FREEDOM WARS REMASTERED BRINGS THE ICONIC PLAYSTATION VITA ACTION GAME TO PC AND CONSOLES IN JANUARY 2025

A million-year prison sentence is the price you pay for living. In a dystopian future, the world has been devastated by pollution and stripped of natural resources, while humanity lives in massive prison complexes called Panopticons. Early next year, Bandai Namco Europe will publish for current-gen platforms FREEDOM WARS REMASTEREDthe famous action game originally released for PlayStation®Vita.

Set in a nightmarish future where anyone born into this hellish landscape is deemed a “Sinner,” players must seek their freedom by volunteering for extremely dangerous combat operations competing with other Panopticons for what remains of the planet’s dwindling resources. The newly remastered game will feature many enhancements, including 4K resolution and updated textures as well as 60 frames per second (fps) for current-gen platforms, and will be available on January 10, 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

In the distant future, humanity is fighting for its survival. Pollution has devastated the planet and what remains of humanity is divided into several prison cities called Panopticons. Resources are so scarce that life itself is a crime and anyone born is immediately condemned to millions of years in prison. The inhabitants are called “Sinners” and their only chance to regain freedom, besides awaiting death in prison, is to fight alongside their allies to obtain resources, save the inhabitants from being kidnapped by rival enemies and take up arms against other opposing Sinners.

FREEDOM WARS REMASTERED offers several enhancements, including 4K resolution, improved textures, and 60fps performance on PlayStation and PC, a revamped weapon crafting system, and other gameplay changes, as well as the addition of difficulty settings. While remaining true to the critically acclaimed original, players will have to fight for survival in the gameplay. Luckily, they will be issued with Thorn weapons to help them traverse the world and defeat their enemies. Thorns allow for fluid 3D movement by jumping and grappling. Players can choose weapons with unique abilities to set traps, provide healing, or increase defense. Thorns can also overwhelm enemies, severing limbs or arms to gain additional resources. As players work to reduce their life sentence, materials found or taken from defeated enemies on the battlefield can be used to upgrade weapons.

The Panopticon is an independent entity: players will learn to understand and navigate the prison environment, using rights points earned in combat missions to obtain new rights from their guards, such as the ability to run for five seconds or recline from a sitting position. Guards are fully customizable, accessory androids who can also accompany players into battle under their ever-watchful eyes. The Panopticon’s community of prisoners will be essential to survival… missions support up to 4 Sinners, AI-controlled NPCs, or other real players in online co-op. Team up to take on more difficult combat missions and gradually reduce the million-year prison in a deadly battle for freedom.
