After months of waiting, Concord arrived on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23. However, the title did not have the reception that Sony expected. In a matter of days, Firewalk Studios’ work has positioned itself as the biggest failure of the year. Even so, It was a big surprise to hear that the game has come to an end.
That’s right, through a statement, Ryan Ellis, director of the game, has confirmed that Concord will become an offline experience on September 6, 2024, just two weeks after its original release. This means that the PvP-only hero shooter will no longer have any functionality. Those who purchased the digital version of the title can request a refund from their respective retailers. Here’s what Ellis had to say on the matter:
“While many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch were not as successful as we had hoped. Therefore, at this time, we have decided to stop bringing the game offline as of September 6, 2024 and explore options, including those that better resonate with our players.
While we determine the best path forward, sales of Concord will cease immediately and we will begin offering a full refund for all players who purchased the game on PS5 or PC. If you purchased the game for PlayStation 5 from PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct, a refund will be issued to your original payment method.”
It is currently unknown if Firewalk Studio will have the opportunity to work on Concord to offer a free-to-play experience or something similar in the future, But it is very likely that Sony does not intend to continue with this universe.and simply cut any spending as soon as possible.
Let’s remember that Firewalk had plans to expand Concord with new characters, game modes, and a story that was going to grow week after week with new cinematics. All these intentions are now in the trashand eight years of the studio’s work was destroyed in a matter of weeks.
Remember, Concord will become an offline game on September 6thso you have just three days to get the platinum. On related topics, you can check out our review of this title here.
Author’s Note:
Concord It’s a soulless game that many players didn’t like. However, cancelling the title overnight is heartless. The developers didn’t have the chance to learn from their mistakes, improve, and deliver the average experience, a practice that, while not liked by many, is very common.
