Martins Sesks will continue to race in the WRC this season. The official announcement came early this morning, with M-Sport announcing the presence of the Latvian driver in the third non-hybrid Ford Puma Rally1 at Rally Chile scheduled for September 26-29.
Sesks will therefore join Adrien Fourmaux and Gregoire Munster in the penultimate rally of the WRC season, the last on gravel before the final two – Rally Central Europe and Rally Japan – will be held on asphalt.
The 24-year-old Latvian has been supported by the WRC promoters, who have found the funds to help him take part in a third rally of the season after having already competed successfully at Rally Poland in June and then at his home Rally Latvia the following month.
Sesks and co-driver Renars Francis took fifth overall in Poland in a non-hybrid Puma Rally1, before coming close to a podium finish in Latvia in the Puma Hybrid, only to be hindered by a mechanical failure that saw them finish seventh overall.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity to drive a Rally1 car again, just two months after our previous rally,” said Sesks.

“It’s been an incredible adventure so far, and the driving experience just keeps getting better. Racing in Chile with a Rally1 car is truly amazing, so I’d like to thank the WRC promoter and M-Sport for their support and partnership.”
“Of course it will be a great challenge, especially starting with a non-hybrid Rally1 car on a rally like this, on slow gravel and at high altitude, which is difficult for both the car and the driver. It will be demanding, but we love a challenge. Once again, we will be the underdogs, driving a rally we don’t know in a non-hybrid car.”
“But I think we are ready and everyone is motivated to give their best, taking on another great adventure this year with M-Sport. We are looking forward to it.”
“Martins has made a great impression at his previous two events with us, so it’s a pleasure to welcome him back to the team in Chile,” said Richard Millener, M-Sport Ford team principal.
“This will undoubtedly be a challenging event, completely different to previous ones. With no previous experience in this difficult rally, it is not an easy task, but it is a great opportunity for him to show his versatility and further establish himself as a future talent.”
“We hope this experience will strengthen his ambition to become a regular name in the Rally1 class.”
