Sayas was born in Barcelona, he began discovering the world of fashion as a model and then moved to the other side, that of agents. He gained experience working in different modeling agencies and later stood out as an entrepreneur. He created the business conglomerate Sight Group, which includes the modeling agency Sight Management Studio; the audiovisual production and representation agency Lighthouse Production and the modeling agency boutique Clear Management. In the beginning she worked in different agencies in Paris, Barcelona and Madrid, and in 2013 she established her own company in Barcelona. In the early 2000s, before the rise of male divisions in the sector, she invested in this area and promoted the careers of national and international figures, such as top Mark Vanderloo, originally from the Netherlands. “My friend Eduardo left us too soon,” laments the model, “he was a wonderful example of great energy, positivity and joy. This was conveyed in his vision of the world of fashion, photography and in his great taste for interior design.”
Vanderloo points out that Sayas “had a good eye for style” and “knew how to recognise talent in the field of modelling, which is why he created many top-level careers”. They met in 1993 in Barcelona and their connection was immediate. “We shared the same sense of humour, he lived life to the fullest and there were never any dull moments at his side”, she recalls, “I had just done a car advert and he managed to get me into other adverts, which gave me the fame that I still have in Spain, and whenever he came here he was by my side to give me confidence while I learned to speak Spanish. When he created his own agency I knew I would follow him on this new adventure”.
He is not the only great figure in the industry who remembers Sayas fondly. Andrés Velencoso says that “Edu has been and will be a great pioneer in the world of fashion, internationally recognized for his work.” For the Catalan model, it is important to highlight the good eye of his agent: “He had an intuition that took him to the top, he was a very special person. He was the reason that my life crossed paths with Davinia’s and I will be eternally grateful to him.” The agent and the model had met a few years earlier, when Elcacho was 21. “I had just joined the agency and it was my first days as a model. He invited me to his 30th birthday party, and from the first moment he made me feel like one of his family. For me it was all new. He was always proud of his models, and although I had not achieved anything professionally at that time, he introduced me to everyone as if I were already established. His generosity was well known and he was with me until my last breath,” says Elcacho, who underlines that Sayas “has been a pioneer and a tireless soul in the world of fashion.”
