Polyansky called the WSJ article on Nord Stream an attempt to shift the focus
The Wall Street Journal’s article about the sabotage at Nord Stream is an attempt to shift the focus and distract the world community’s attention from the real culprits of the explosion. This is how the First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN) Dmitry Polyansky called the American publication’s version on a social network X.
“I don’t know what kind of person you have to be to believe such information that a bunch of drunk Ukrainian divers were able to blow up Nord Stream,” Polyansky emphasized.
According to journalists from The Wall Street Journal, the plan to blow up Nord Stream in the fall of 2022 was personally approved by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the publication, sabotage of gas pipelines in Kyiv began to be discussed several months before that, in May 2022.
At the same time, the WSJ notes, when the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) learned of Zelensky’s intentions, the Ukrainian leader was asked to cancel the operation. The president agreed to abandon the blowing up of the gas pipelines, but Zaluzhny ignored the order of the head of state.
