Abdominal pain, then tragedy, Donata leaves behind her husband and four children. Now an investigation has been launched: what happened

After finding a serious inflammation, Donata was immediately monitored. In the hospital, however, the situation worsened.

The story of a woman who died in hospital in circumstances that have yet to be verified and for which an investigation has been opened is still shocking. The tragedy of Donated Giacomettia 45-year-old woman, mother of four children and two others in foster care, shocked the community of Vicenza. Many knew her for her social commitment within the community “Papa Giovanni XXIII”, a youth center.

Donata died on June 9, so almost two months ago, but the case is causing discussion, especially for what the authorities are reconstructing about her death. The woman, in fact, died after a transfer between hospitalsThe prosecutor’s office has recently opened an investigation for manslaughter given the dubious circumstances in which the tragedy occurred.

On June 7, Donata began to complain acute abdominal pain and around 11 she was rushed to the San Bortolo hospital in Vicenza. With intense pain that would not subside, Donata had to wait over five hours for an appointment. As the situation worsened, her husband contacted a doctor at the San Bonifacio hospital, who had treated Donata in the past. So, she was transferred to another facility.

Meanwhile, at the San Bartolo hospital, blood tests had revealed problematic valuessuggesting a possible appendicitis, a hypothesis that was however ruled out by the doctors. At San Bonifacio, however, a serious inflammation was immediately found and Donata was immediately monitored. The next day, the situation worsened.

The sudden worsening forced the paramedics to rush the woman to operating roombut unfortunately she died at 5 am on June 9. It was probably septicemia, basically an infection that spread to the point of involving the blood. Donata’s husband, Valerio Infanti, shortly after, filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office, leading to the opening of an investigation for manslaughter.

There power of attorney has acquired the necessary documents from the San Bartolo hospital to determine the cause of death. Attorney Gianluca Tencati, who represents Donata’s family, states: “In our opinion, there was negligence and shortcomings during the time she spent at San Bortolo. […] We do not seek revenge, but only justice.”
