Sony just released its financial report for the most recent quarter of 2024 with a new record for PlayStation 5. Here they indicated that they sold 2.4 million consoles during the period, bringing their total to 61 million. This puts it far ahead of its direct competition, the Xbox Series X, which has an estimated 21 million consoles sold.

Despite these numbers for the PlayStation 5, it’s not all good news for Sony. In fact, they also reported a decline in their hardware sales. For comparison, they showed that in the same quarter last year they had sold 3.3 million consoles. Almost a million more than this year.
