Francesco Bagnaialeader of the Ducati Lenovo team championship, took part in the press conference on Thursday of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the tenth round of the 2024 MotoGP world calendar. A particularly happy period for the Italian champion, who got married two weeks ago. Below are his statements.
After the summer break
“Honestly, it was good to have a break after Sachsenring. I went on holiday with my wife, rested, then got married and started training again. The wedding day was amazing, then there was World Ducati Week and it’s not easy to rest on that weekend. But I enjoyed every moment and I hope the fans had fun and enjoyed the show.”
Silverstone
“I love this track, it’s one of the most beautiful. The track is long and smooth, without bumps. It’s never been this hot herebut I think we can have fun.”
The marriage
“I have never cried like when I walked down the aisle with my mom. I felt much more nervous, compared to a race weekend..”
Special Liveries
“Honestly I’m very happy with this idea from Dorna, I find it fantastic to see all these liveries from the past. I love the old design, in our case it’s not visible because of the sponsors. The Honda and Yamaha liveries are visible better. I wish there was more space for these things in the future.”
Crafar instead of Spencer
“I think it’s one of the hardest jobs in the paddock. It’s not easy to make those choices, but I think that with Simon we will have a nice conversation. We talk to him often, I think he will be able to choose a line.”
A special race
“The first one that comes to mind is Valencia 2003, with Valentino Rossi’s hippie livery. And I remember where I was watching this race, in a house near Rome.”
New Alpinestars airbag
“Many of the falls that have occurred in recent years have had no consequences thanks to the development of the airbag. In motocross it is not easy, because it is a more contact sport and they will have to adapt because mobility on the bike will be needed.”
Suzuka 8 Hours
“I’m pushing hard for Ducati to race there. I know how stressful it can be, but I love this type of race and I think it’s a goal to achieve in my career. But before I do it, I’d like to do it to win.”
Second race in Misano
“In my case I’m happy, it’s a quarter of an hour from home and we’re in Italy. Last year, due to the situation I experienced in Barcelona, I wasn’t in top form. This year we’ll have 2 opportunities and we’ll try to make the most of them.”
