A few minutes after Giovanni De Gennaro’s splendid gold, Italy celebrates another triumph at these Paris 2024 Olympics: it is signed by Alice Bellandi who defeats the Israeli Inbar Lanir in the Judo 78 kg final. The Italian first scores a wazza-ari, then wins definitively thanks to the third shido inflicted on the Israeli.

Alice Bellandi wins a splendid gold in judo, 78 kg category. The Italian, n. 1 in the world ranking, defeated her Israeli rival, Inbar Lanir, n. 3, before regulation time with a point in her favor but the third shido suffered by the Israeli was decisive, 30 seconds from the end.
The match could have ended with one minute to go for an ippon in the Italian’s score, but the referee did not grant it. Bellandi’s gold is her fifth in Paris, and follows De Gennaro’s in Kayak by a few minutes.
