The Endurance will stop on the Santerno until 2028
The over 70 thousand attendees over the three days did not go unnoticed by the WEC el organizers‘Imola Autodrome has been confirmed within the 2025 calendar of the World Endurance Championship with a four-year renewal which also involves the ELMS category (one of the ‘antechambers’ of the WEC). Below are the words of those who signed this agreement which will see Imola host the WEC until 2028 in the hope of also extending the agreement with F1 which expires in 2025.
Frederic Lequien (CEO of WEC): “The 2025 WEC calendar is about consolidation and creating a schedule that works for both our teams and fans. The WEC is growing at an extraordinary pace, but we must remain humble and, by maintaining eight races, we listen to our teams, stakeholders and partners, while also taking into account the budget. It is important that the WEC reaches the widest possible audience and with eight races in five different geographical areas we will continue to pursue this objective. We are delighted that Imola has committed to participating in the WEC until at least 2028: the racetrack and the city mayor Marco Panieri have given us enormous support and this year’s inaugural WEC race was a great success, which we look forward to imitating in 2025 and beyond.”
Marco Panieri (Mayor of Imola): “Imola recorded, together with Spa, the record attendance in the 2024 edition, a result that makes us happy, for which I want to thank all the participants once again. From here we start for this fantastic opportunity for the city of Imola, since its geographical position in the heart of the Motor Valley, on the famous Via Emilia, can help promote local excellence, Made in Italy, regional products such as food and wine , and our promotion project called Terre& Motori. To promote the spirit of Le Mans, the city of Imola and its staff have worked to connect the city’s historic center to the track. Another important factor for us is investments in the track. Thanks to this event we will be able to improve infrastructure such as the pits and the fan zone, making the experience of visitors and staff more pleasant. Finally, I would like to thank my local staff and Frédéric Lequien’s staff for their outstanding work.”
Peter Benvenuti (General Manager of the Imola Autodrome): “It is a great satisfaction to announce, right here in Le Mans, the agreement with FIA WEC to ensure that the two WEC and ELMS races remain in Imola for the next 4 years. The great collaboration and mutual respect with Frédéric Lequien and Cédric Vilatte led to a great result that we achieved together in 2024 and following this “trail” we reached this important agreement with the fundamental support of the Municipality of Imola and in particular of the Mayor Marco Baskets. The WEC represents an event of great importance for the Autodrome and for the “Motor Valley” territory, demonstrated by the great participation of many spectators in love with the “Spirit of Le Mans” who came to enjoy the race and the Emilia-Romagna Region . For this reason we announce that tickets to attend the FIA WEC – 6 Hours of Imola 2025 are on sale today and can be purchased on www.ticketone.it”.
