Continuous track invasions in Montreal
The weekend of Montreal it was – as always – also characterized by the presence of numerous American marmots on the track, especially near the last chicane, a point at which the drivers arrive very fast.
On lap 32 Max Verstappen was approaching that point and had to perform an evasive maneuver: “I was coming to the last chicane and I saw what initially looked like debris. Then I realized it was an animal and I swerved to the right at the last moment”explained the Red Bull driver in the press conference.
Verstappen then turned to Russell and Norris to find out what had happened to the animal: “He managed to save himself, I was happy with what had happened because I got you two tenths back“, Russell replied. Verstappen had already ‘collected’ an animal during a GP a year ago: “A bird got stuck inside my car, if I had hit the marmot I think I could have suffered some damage.”
