What a party in Munich
The beautiful victory in the Principality allowed Charles Leclerc to interrupt a lack of success that had been going on since July 2022 and to break the curse of the home race which had already seen him win pole position twice, but not first place under the checkered flag.
“It was wonderful“, he commented to the microphones of Sky Italiaadding: “Obviously there was a lot of emotion on Sunday and in the evening we celebrated with the whole team because it meant so much to me. Winning a Monaco GP represents a lot for anyone, so there was something to celebrate. Having said that, since Monday I was already focused on the following race and preparation.”
Prospects for the world championship
Leclerc then underlined: “But only one victory remains and to win the championship we need more“. The Ferrari driver has 31 points behind Verstappen and it could shorten further precisely in Canada, perhaps taking advantage of the not so brilliant period of its rivals: “I don’t expect a twenty second gap here, especially given the type of track. We’ll have to see from Barcelona onwards, because from there I think we’ll see the strength of Red Bull again.”
