In a short note published by the team Arrow McLaren on their social pages and on the official website, the team communicated the termination of the commercial partnership with Juncos Hollinger with immediate effect. The collaboration, which began only a year ago, thus ends after the unacceptable and repeated episodes of hatred, insults and death threats directed at its pilot, Theo Pourchaireafter the contact between the French and Agustin Canapino (bearer of Juncos Hollinger) during the last race in Detroit.
The motivations
Following that episode, which did not in any case force the riders involved to retire, many Canapino supporters were unleashed against the 2003-born transalpine rider, especially on the web, lashing out with repeated insults to the point of death threats. The Argentine, two days after the match, had published a message on social media in which he did not recognize as his fans all those who had expressed themselves in this way against Pourchaire, condemning what had happened, but all this was not enough.
In fact, in a short press release, Arrow McLaren made the end of the relationship with Juncos Hollinger official: “The Arrow McLaren IndyCar team has terminated its commercial alliance with Juncos Hollinger Racing, effective immediately – it is read – This decision follows actions that occurred earlier this week on social media in connection with an on-track incident during the Chevrolet Grand Prix of Detroit. As reflected in the team’s community code on social media, Arrow McLaren does not tolerate any form of abuse or discrimination and fully condemns online abuse directed at our team and our driver“.
